Homer becomes lucky as he is fixed for a pair of prosthetic gripping devices that has steel hooks. One of the characteristic of Homer is being a representative. He represented all veterans as well as, their struggles so as to fit back to the society. Despite the fact of him losing his hands during the war, he does not lose connections with people in the society or the visual symbol of the fact that a veteran will never be the same again because of his memories of the war. Homer also knows how to deal with great stress. Being that he is different from others, this denies him a chance of socializing with others. Although Homer was trained by the military on how to use his prosthetics he still considered himself as a burden to the society because there are no ways he could break away from by any means since he was not trained on how he could fit back into his society as well as handling his situation within it.

In conclusion, while watching the movie, one gets different great stories in one movie that tries to give an insight to the Second World War sociological problems through the difficulties for example; Fred and his wife live through, the troubles of Al fitting back into his family and the hardships Homer has to face.
